The mod is utilizing and relying on tne existing Video BB Code tags that vB natively supports. If you request vBulletin to add the video title to the vB video embed preview functionality, then this mod would automatically pick that up.

Oh ok I see. So if I get that well, the mod works picks up URLs, check if the domain belongs to a video provider and transform those using the vB video bbcode.

      Did I get that right?

        Yes.

Then I'll write a feature request for you

Create an option panel with one line per video provider, and for each a dropdown menu of all the bbcodes (default/video, and all the custom ones), that would change which bbcodes applies to which provider

Does this mean that you could configure which video provider would be auto-embedded and if you configure not to auto-embed a provider, then it would leave the raw video URL as-is, in which case, the generic URL preview functionality would take over (as applicable)?

That could be an option indeed. You could have a list of pre-defined providers, and if someone wants you can "add" providers like you can add bbcodes in the bbcode manager for example.

The Auto-Embed Video mod supports all the video providers that vB natively supports, such as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, DailyMotion and Hulu. I don't see why would anyone want to turn off auto-embed on those if they are natively supported using the Video BBCode tags that cannot be individually turned off.

I'm adding support for 2 new video providers (Rumble and Reddit) that are not natively supported by vB. These will be optional for customers and only for those who want them.

I was answering your suggestion, but my thought was a choice between "default video bbcode" or "custom bbcode" for each provider, auto embed being the automation avoiding having to use bbcode manually.

glennrocksvb, if somebody wants to just post a link to a video without embedding the video, is there a way for them to do that? Maybe a special bbcode or something would make it possible (I know there was a noparse bbcode at some point).

I will check if wrapping the video URL inside [noparse] BBCode will ignore the video embed.

Another question that comes in : is there a way to embed things correctly when used with the
                Code:
                &t=xxxx
                URL ?

At the moment, when a video is embedded, it starts from the beginning no matter what.

                Thanks,

The mod utilizes the built-in YouTube embed feature of vBulletin and it doesn't support adding the start time in the URL. Let me see if there's a way for a third-party plugin to implement that.

Dropbox does not have an built-in embed option to insert videos like YouTube and and other video providers do.

It might still be possible to embed a Dropbox video using the browser's native video player using the <video> tag. But remember that when embedding a file like that, there are bandwidth limitations to consider. Depending on the size of the file and your account type, you could easily use up all of allotted bandwidth for your Dropbox account.
