Deadpool, glad you figured it out and that it wasn't caused by Shoutbox. If you are on vB6 you don't need a third-party bookmark mod. vB6 already has it natively.

If it works most of the time and randomly happens one time then you probably have unstable internet connection? Otherwise, please check the errors logs on the server if there's any PHP error logged at the time of the failed request.

Here, the error message comes up every now and then. With quite stable 1 Gb connections (home/server). I remember having the shout box from Dragonbyte years ago (vb4) and the error message wasn't showing, but instead there was an icon in the shout saying IDLE, which was showing after a while not using the shoutbox.

Please check the server error logs to find the detailed PHP error stack trace. Without that, I wouldn't be able to determine what is causing the issue.

I suggest opening the DevTools while on the page with Shoutbox and leaving it open and then wait until you encounter the same error message. When the error happens, open the Network tab on DevTools and find the "fetchShoutboxMessages" request. Check the response in the Preview or Response tab and post a screenshot here.

I think your initial answer to the Shoubox popup message was somewhat correct, namely that it's related to unstable connections, whether it's the home connection or the server connection.

I received the Shoubox popup message today. I also had the DevTools open in FF, not by accident, but because the forum was responding slowly and I wanted to see what was going on.

There were many NS_BINDING_ABORTED errors. One error occurred while retrieving Shoutbox messages and triggered the Shoubox popup with the message (see attachment). All problems were resolved when I cleared the forum cache. No more NS_BINDING_ABORTED errors, and the forum responded quickly.

This is amazing. Can you add a feature where you can minimize the chat box to the lower right corner of the screen? Users would press on the chat bar to open the chat box window on the right side of the screen just like the chat support section of other websites

PsychicFeedback, the Shoutbox module can be minimized just like any other module by clicking the "-" icon at the upper right corner of the module. But it doesn't move to the bottom of the screen. It stays where it is.

I'll check if I can find a way to move it using CSS.

Would it be possible to add a reserved command like?

/ban <user> <duration>

ban user only from using the shoutbox, where <user> is the username, and <duration> the time the ban is active. Duration could be 2m (2 minutes), 2h (2 hours), 2d (days).

What do you think about adding GIPHY to the Shoutbox?

Hi Glenn, just upgraded vB to the latest version I was eligible for (6.1.4) - Shoutbox is no longer working correctly (v2.2). My download link to 2.3 in my emails is long expired. Wondering if I can get a new 2.3 install emailed to try and fix whatever broke? Thanks!
