In AdminCP > Settings > Options > Setting Group [vBMods.rocks] Add Post to Bookmarks Settings, one specifies which usergroups will be allowed to use this MOD. If you go back in there subsequently, the usergroup choices are still present to see and/or edit.

Using Edit Site > Navigation Bar > Main Navication Bar to edit My Bookmarks and click on Edit User Groups, none of the specified usergroups from above are marked. They get marked initially, and presumably are still in effect going back in subsequently, but why aren't they marked? The purpose of choosing Edit from here is to make changes to what is/has already been selected. But as those choices aren't shown...

The Add Post to Bookmarks Settings are independent of the Navigation Bar item settings. The mod does not read/update the Navigation Bar settings. You need to sync them manually.

If you show the My Bookmarks link in the Navigation Bar for all users, it could also be useful for unauthorized users to be encouraged to register (if they are guests), or to be promoted to a usergroup (if you have usergroup promotions), or to purchase a paid subscription (if you promote a user via paid subscription). As long as the My Bookmarks page module has the correct usergroup permissions, then unauthorized users will see the no permission error on the My Bookmarks page. You could update the no permission error phrases in the Phrase Manager to adjust the messaging according to your use case.

That's fine. My question was why, once the usergroups were selected (marked) in the Navigation Bar item settings, that when you go back in there subsequently, the list of usergroups are all unchecked. I'd expect that it would reflect what was last selected/saved.

I've never encountered that before on this forum. That might be a bug in the Navigation Bar functionality. Does it happen to other navigation items? You could try deleting it and then re-creating it if you want.

Seems to, at least in one other Navigation item I looked at a few minutes ago, it was the case; all Usergroup entries had no check marks.

Ok, I checked and confirmed this is a bug in vB5 and vB6. The usergroup settings take effect but the UI doesn't reflect the selected usergroups.

                    Hello Glenn,
Thank You for the great mod, I have purchased it today once I read the post. I followed all the steps with exact url name, ad template off and on ( I am using vb6), cloudflaree burge, cache burge, many browsers, incognito for more than 1.5 hours. in order to let it work!

But You didn't mention in the long instructions: Don't forget to enable the mod!

So one is instructed to Select Yes to enable or No to disable the mod.

And it is enabled (Yes) by default. Did you set it to No after installing and forgot it?

The readme file also has this instruction:

                          3. Configure the following settings.

                          Enable this mod? [Yes/No]
                          ....

I find most hacks deactivated, but I didn't deactivate it and i don't know if there is a default to deactivate. Anyway, happy I got it, and more happy when you trabslate your brilliant thoughts into mods.

That's odd. This specific mod is enabled by default.

It looks like the upcoming vB 6.1.0 version has built-in Bookmarks. But at this time, I think this mod is still better than the built-in one.

                        Please see below differences:
                        1. This mod has usergroup setting where you can set which usergroups can use bookmark while the built-in one does not. This allows you to use bookmarking as an incentive for Paid Subscription and User Promotion systems.
                        2. This mod displays Add to Bookmark and Remove from Bookmark icons everywhere a post is displayed - on Topic pages (both Posts and Latest Activity tabs), Latest Activity, My Subscriptions, Profile Activities tab, and Search Results. The built-in one in vB 6.1.0 only displays the icons on Topic pages > Posts tab only.
                        3. This mod displays bookmarks in its own Bookmark Module. This means you can put it on any page - either in an existing page or a new dedicated page for bookmarks.
                          • If you put it on a new page, you can add a link to it in the Main Navigation Bar, Footer or Notice. You cannot do this in the built-in one because the link contains the user id.
                        4. This mod has Default and Compact views while the official Bookmarks feature only has one view. The Compact view uses a simple layout that doesn't take up much space and provides Admins with an alternative layout.
                        5. In vb 6.1.0, after clicking Add Bookmark icon, the tooltip when you hover the icon still says "Add Bookmark". You have to reload the page to see "Remove Bookmark". This has been fixed in RC2.
                        6. This mod now supports In-Feed Ads integration. This is new in v1.2. See next post for more details.

I'm excited to announce that I have released v1.2 of this mod. Customers who have purchased this mod have been sent a confirmation email containing the download link.

                          These are the release notes:
                          • Fixed layout issue when in Compact mode and the post title is too long and doesn't fit in the available width.
                          • Added ability to insert In-Feed Ads between bookmarked posts. This can include code from Google AdSense, other ad providers, or your own custom HTML ad code.

                          Benefits of In-Feed Ads:
                          • Enhanced Ad Engagement: In-feed ads blend seamlessly into the content, improving visibility and engagement without disrupting the user experience.
                          • Optimized Revenue: Placing ads in-between bookmarked posts increases the chances of user interaction, leading to higher click-through rates and potential revenue.
                          • Dynamic Ad Placement: Ads are inserted in random positions between bookmarked posts, preventing users from becoming "blind" to them. Fixed-position ads can often be overlooked, but random placement increases visibility and engagement.
                          • Customization Flexibility: Supports a variety of ad codes, including responsive ads that work across both mobile and desktop devices.
                          • Usergroup-Based Configuration: You can configure In-Feed Ads to show based on Usergroup settings. Admins can leverage this feature to offer ads exclusively to specific user groups, creating incentives for Paid Subscriptions and User Promotions systems. For instance, you can choose to display ads only for the "Registered Users" usergroup, while hiding them for other usergroups.
This feature helps ensure ads are presented in a way that feels natural to users, maximizing both revenue and user experience.

See demo of In-Feed Ads on the My Bookmarks module on Homepage and on the My Bookmarks page. I used Google AdSense Responsive Ad unit there.

I just triggered your order email confirmation to be sent again. Please check your PayPal email and not your forum email and check Spam folder in case it's there. FYI, purchases are tied to the PayPal email and not the forum email (if they're different) since guests are allowed to purchase mods.

So I downloaded the uploaded the MOD per the instructions.
When I imported the product_addposttobookmarks.xml file file, and after it finished, I was presented with this notice:

Name:	Screen Shot 2025-01-23 at 10.54.21 PM.png
Views:	53
Size:	33.6 KB
ID:	31312

I verified that the MOD was updated; it now shows as v1.2.

Why would I receive this notice?
