I have implemented the fix for 6.0.8. I just need to test the mod to ensure it still works in 6.0.7 and older including vB5.x Watch out for its release soon. Note that since Read Marking system for Guests is gone in 6.0.8 and going forward, guests will not have the ability to double-click the forum icon to mark it read.

Released v1.2 with these release notes:
      • Fixed a bug in the mod for the latest vB 6.0.8 version where Read Marking system was refactored and changed — the "Topic/Forum Read Marking Type" option in AdminCP was removed and read marking for guests was also removed.
      • Updated the mod based on these vB 6.0.8 changes. For vB 6.0.7 and lower (including vB 5.x), read marking still follows the "Topic/Forum Read Marking Type" option and read marking for guests still works as is.
Customers who've purchased this product will receive an email containing the download link.

Thank you very much for the VB 6.08 version.
I will test it later. Unfortunately my database crashed when I tried to change the character set.

How did you change charset? Did you use the dbtools scripts that vB provides?

        #19
Yes, strictly following the instructions. There may have been problems with the installed language pack, even though I always used the official one.
But I don't know exactly. I hope support will fix it next week.

Thank you for confirming that the Double-click Forum Icon to Mark Read mod works perfectly on vBulletin 6.0.8. That's awesome!

This mod is working fine with this version.

Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately, it's not working correctly.

After double-clicking, the forum is marked as read. But when the page reloads, it's unread again.

Additional info: I have 21 public forums. It works for 5 of them, but not for the others.

It has nothing to do with user rights or subforums. I don't see any logical reason why this works in some forums and not in others.

              Cache was cleared.

Mike, please check AdminCP > Settings > Options > General Settings > Database Read Marking Limit. How many days it is set to?

The system only marks a channel as read if the date of the last content of the channel is within the "Database Read Marking Limit" option. I have a note for that in the first post for vB5 and that also applies to vB6. Please refer to it for more details.

It is set to 10 days. Haven't changed it.

Is the last post of each affected forum older than 10 days?

I checked the source code for the Mark Channels Read vBulletin API in vB 6.1.2 and 6.1.3 and it hasn't changed. I also didn't change any logic for marking channels read in the mod. I only fixed the Javascript error due to the missing "simpleversion" variable that was removed in 6.1.3. That variable is just for checking the vB version to make the mod compatible with vB5 and vB6.

The vBulletin source code even has a code comment indicating to not bother marking a channel read if the oldest content is older than the age limit. Please refer to the green text in the screenshot below:

As I mentioned in the first post, I recommend setting the Database Marking Limit to a higher value (6 months to 1 year) as a workaround.

I will try it. Thank you.

But it's strange that it wasn't like that with the previous version. Anyway... I'll test it.
