Automate the Clear System Cache process

Our installation of vBulletin runs on a web host that restricts the size a MySQL database can grow to. We get notices that the size exceeds their limit and using ACP | Maintenance | Clear System Cache reduces the database size by 50% and speeds up performance.

Is there a way to automate this process, perhaps by using a scheduled task? That would eliminate the issue for us.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to vbmods.rocks dgshields!

Are you on self-hosted version of vB5 and not on vBCloud? If yes, then this mod is for you.

We are self-hosted and our web host has a 1G restriction on the size of a MySQL database. Without the System Cache, the DB size is under 500 Meg. It's the cache that eats up the rest of the space and then we get a notice to reduce the size or get the database access crippled...

      Thanks!

You must be on Shared plan with that restriction?

Anyway, the mod should help you reduce the size of the database.

But eventually when your site grows in the future, you will certainly exceed the restriction even with clearing the cache. I recommend to upgrade your plan at that point.

Yes, we are using shared hosting at this time. We are looking to move in the future, however, the vBulletin System Cache growth issue appears to be a bear for many users from the searches I have done about it.

          Thanks again!
