    Is this a vBulletin issue?

Not a browser issue. I run Thunderbird 141.0 (64-bit) on my iMac (running macOS Big Sur Version 11.7.10 (20G1427).

Thunderbird displays emails with graphics and active hyperlinks just fine, except for New User email notifications I receive from our forum. Those emails, even though they contain html entries, don't display as hyperlinks, and nothing I can find in Thunderbird settings accounts for this, so I'm making an assumption that it's how vBulletin constructs the content that it then emails? Ideas? Suggestions?

These emails do display with active hyperlinks if I view them in Apples email client (Mail) that comes with Big Sur, or if I view them in my Gmail account.

Some (most) email clients automatically render plain text URLs as links. I guess Thunderbird is not one of them. To ensure all the URLs are displayed as links, you need to update the email templates and update the URLs with <a> hyperlink tags.

Initially vB5 didn't support HTML emails. But starting vB 5.6.9, it supported HTML in emails. But it required admins to manually update the email templates to add hyperlinks if you have custom translations for these phrases. I guess you didn't update the templates.

Here's the release notes for your reference and refer to the "HTML Support for Outgoing Emails" section.

Do I just need to replace the {number} with the {variablename} as shown?

Any placeholder for links should be replaced with <a> tag. In this case, it's the {3} placeholder that holds the URL for the profile. So you'll replace it with:

          HTML Code:
          <a href="{3}">{3}</a>
If you also want the IP address to be a link, then it should be replace with:

          HTML Code:
          <a href="https://ipinfo.io/{6}">https://ipinfo.io/{6}</a>
