.htaccess cache html?

I was wondering if html should be cached? And if so how do I go about doing it? Here's a screenshot of what I am seeing. The first line appears uncached.

It's uncached because the content of the homepage is dynamic not static.

Are you running Varnish cache? Is this something you think will speed up my server? If so do you want to install and config it?

Not yet. But I plan on installing it one of these days. I haven't done it before but once I get it to work on mine, I will work on yours.
