    Retain indentations in pasted content?

This is especially important when pasting "code" into a post.

I have a lengthy bash script. It contains two if then else fi sections, and of course, for clarity, appropriate content below then and else is indented two spaces. But whether I just paste the content into a post, use QUOTE or CODE tags to enclose the content, vBulletin strips the leading whitespaces from each line. Why!

Am I missing something? Is there some setting that allows for the preservation of intentional whitespace?

That's a bug and I hate it since we post a lot of code in this forum. I've reported it here. Wayne Luke confirmed it's a bug and the bug ticket is here. From the ticket, the issue was introduced in vB 5.5.6
