I'm not an expert, but I run a live forum 4.2.5 and a test forum 5.6.4
VB 5.6.4 is still a little quirky but I prefer it over 4.2.5. The new VB is easier to design with a Site holder app built in. Do you have a VB4 forum? I can give you some tips if you're considering upgrading.
Either way, the learning curve is steep for either, and a lot will depend on your knowledge of php and html. I've been working with VB4 for a number of years and VB5 for a few months.
