Changing font color in the area where the notifications box is

How do I change the font color where the notification/messages/profile buttons are? I have looked all over the Style Variable Editor and can't find it. The text it so light you can barely see it. I have attached a screenshot.

You have to know where to look.

But not all elements have associated stylevars. In those cases, you'd need to add custom css in css_additional template.

So, I have now hunted for 3 hours looking for this one. I want the thread that have the grey background to be white. Which stylevar is that?

Also, the drop down menu in this pic. I either need to change the background or text color and haven't been able to find this one either. I have found all of the rest I needed to change I think.
