Amazon Prime Day is basically a Black-Friday-in-July and Cyber-Monday-in-July that promises extra savings over and above the company's usual discount prices. This year's Prime Day runs for 30 hours, from July 10th at 9PM EST on Monday through July 12th at 3AM EST on Wednesday.
To take advantage of Prime Day, you must be an Amazon Prime member but you can get a free 30-day trial membership which gives you access to all the deals. You will also still have the option to cancel the membership after 30 days even if you have taken part in Amazon Prime Day.
