Making default display mode using css

If it isn't configurable in admincp, is it possible to tweak the below discussion using css?

Is there a way as an administrator to control the display mode that is presently an option in a users profile/setting/account? Looking to not make it a choice, but only a display mode of "Posts". I did a brief search and found nothing.

That's a user level configuration you can't fully control. You can change it in the database of course but ultimately users have the option to change it as they wish.

And it's not possible to change it in CSS either. But even if it could, it would only for display. CSS obviously can't change anything in the database.
