Topic Statistics

Hi,

I'm curious if there's a way to get the statistics associated with all topics. For example, when viewing the vBulletin Issues & Questions forum, all topics display a Statistics column showing various stats. For example:

0 responses 21 views 0 likes

How would you create a report for topics with the highest views, or highest responses or highest likes?

Using the Search module, you can fetch posts and sort them by like count in descending order by using JSON as search criteria. I linked a tutorial on how to use Search JSON on homepage under the Helpful Links module. There's no way though to use JSON to sort by views as far as I know. You would need custom coding to do that.

I am creating a Top Statistics module but haven't had a chance to finish it yet.

Thanks Glenn - I'll take a look at the tutorial. I'm assuming this could be done via SQL but that would take a while to get it right. I found this blog that might help with the SQL but the JSON sounds like a good start.

That tutorial is for older versions of vB (vB4 or vB3) and not for vB5. The database structure in vB5 is totally different than the older versions.
