    javascript error root cause

    Can someone assist me with identifying the root cause of js errors, what app is causing the issue?

    I previously posted the problem on vB and Wayne identified "You have custom javascript (sdk.js and tapstream.js) that is failing on that site. This can cause all Javascript to cease working on the page. The "Mark Forums Read" relies on Javascript to work."

    I believe it is the tapatalk app causing the problem, but want to make sure. Tapatalk has since been updated, but still presented with same issue, marking forums read doesnt in fact mark them read on a specific forum.

    Is this in the apco site? I'm seeing a JS error related to the slider module I made for you a long time ago. To fix it, you have to remove this line from the code in the module.

    Code:
    el.querySelector('.widget-header-divider').style.display = 'none';

        I don't see any Javascript errors on the homepage either as guest or logged in as Administrator (I still had your credentials you provided before).

            Still no JS error on that page. What is the effect of the JS error you are getting?

              Wayne said he got it.

              basically the mark forum read doesn’t mark the posts read.

                Ok I traced and stepped through the Javascript code in your site and it's not marking topics as read because the "Topic/Forum Read Marking Type" in Settings > Options > General Settings is set to "Inactivity/Cookie Based". It should be set to "Database (automatic forum marking)".

                  I wish I had your knowledge.

                  I suspect they had it st that way because they are limited to dbqueries with this host. I am trying to get them to move to A2.

                  I changed it as recommended, we'll see if they ge time outs.

                  Thank you, enjoy the coffee!
