How do you the forum layout narrower?

I have seen the instructions on how to make a forum lay out wider, so in theory to narrow it I did just the opposite but it changes the background of my Site Builder navbar when in admin mode to that of my page background:

I have my width where I want it, just don't want my navbar on site builder to have the same background as the page.

It doesn't have the same background as the page. It just wraps due to space limitation. The items in the top bar don't fit in the top bar. You will have the same issue when you shrink the browser window.
